The Real Greek

Sector: Mediterranean
Details: Modern Greek cuisine
Location: Tower Bridge, London

The Real Greek first opened its doors in Hoxton, London in 1999. The chain has grown a huge and loyal following and now has 25 sites around the UK under its belt.

One of the stand out themes in The Real Greek restaurants is its relaxed environment. The format is designed to encourage customers to take their time enjoying and sharing their meal, as is the Greek custom.

Serving delicious Mediterranean food, the menu features Greek hot and cold meze dishes, flame-grilled meats and souvlaki wraps. To ensure the dishes are as authentic as possible, ingredients are sourced from Greece and Cyprus, where possible.

The Real Greek is partnered with the Pancreatic Cancer UK charity. They continuously raise money for this vital cause in honour of their late Operations Director, Christos Karatzenis.

"The original building itself, within the Tower Bridge development, had various preservation orders on many of the original internal features. The added structural glass roof and external facia made it an exciting, although somewhat, challenging build from start to finish. However, the combination of excellent forward planning and great teamwork enabled us to make this fantastic project a success."

Tower Bridge

The Real Greek is uniquely positioned in the heart of London, next to the famous Tower Bridge. The restaurant is so close to the iconic landmark that the bridge’s blue cables can be seen running through it!

Placed in a prime location alongside other prominent restaurants, the area is buzzing with tourists and office workers alike.

The restaurant features enormous glass panels which provides beautiful views of the River Thames and its historical surroundings.

A bridge too far – not for us!

Despite the fantastic location of this restaurant, it did present some challenges. We worked within the site into the Grade II listed building, Bridgemaster’s House, which was next door. The kitchen extract ductwork passes through three floors with a bespoke kitchen extract fan and added filtration, thus discharging out at high level. This was tricky to put into place, but proved extremely efficient.

We enjoyed working with The Real Greek on this site and are thrilled to see this great name in the hospitality industry continue to thrive.
