Popeyes

Sector: Fried Chicken
Details: Famous Louisiana Chicken
Location: Cambridge

Popeyes was founded in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1972 by Al Copeland. Originally called “Chicken on the Run”, it didn’t attract much attention and so it was swiftly rebranded as “Popeyes”; named after Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle from The French Connection movies.

The dream was to create the best fried chicken. Fast forward to today, and the one time small local restaurant has transformed into a global brand with over 3,700 sites worldwide.

Popeyes are famous for their 12 hour marinated chicken, southern biscuits and gravy which are traditional New Orleans dishes.

Chapman Ventilation proudly collaborated with Popeyes on the launch of their first UK store in Westfield Stratford in November 2021. Thousands of fried chicken lovers queued on opening day to get a taste of the renowned Louisiana food and Popeyes’ popularity has continued to grow ever since.

"As ever, it has been a delight to work with Popeyes, and in such a beautiful location. The low ceilings in the restaurant provided a slight challenge, but due to excellent teamwork we made it a success. The project was delivered on time and on budget, so everyone was happy all round. "

Cambridge

Popeyes is positioned in Market Hill (also known as Market Square) in central Cambridge. The area is a market city and has been home to trading stalls since the Saxon times. A market is still in operation there today, and it is open all year round (apart from the key dates over the Christmas period).

Popeyes Cambridge is also just a short walk away from the iconic King’s College Chapel, the Chapel of King’s College in the University of Cambridge. This historic gothic landmark is often associated with Cambridge, and took almost 100 years to build.

Also nearby is the River Cam, which runs right through Cambridge. Punting along the River Cam is a great way to see the beautiful sights and a must do activity when visiting the city.

Y’all better believe it!

Here at Chapman Ventilation we pride ourselves on the relationships we build with our clients and collaborators. This enables us to navigate difficult situations that may arise on projects, successfully. Popeyes Cambridge is a classic example of how fantastic teamwork ensured that we delivered the project on time and on budget.

The restaurant has a very low ceiling which provided limited access to fit the ducting. Working together with other associates ensured that we managed to manoeuvre around the small space and get the ducting fitted effectively.

Chapman Ventilation were thrilled to be working again with Popeyes as they continue their successful roll out across the UK, and we look forward to assisting them with the opening of more restaurants in the future.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss your kitchen and restaurant HVAC, and find out how we can help.
