Gourmet Burger Kitchen

Back in 2001, a trio of New Zealanders set up the first Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) in Battersea, South London. Its aim was to bring a gourmet edge to the UK burger scene with a casual dining approach. GBK prides itself on serving up a variety of handcrafted burgers combining 100% prime beef with the finest ingredients and homemade burger sauces. With 65 restaurants in the UK and franchises in Ireland, Greece, Dubai and Oman, GBK are continuously expanding. We’ve been working closely with GBK for a number of years devising bespoke HVAC systems suited to its aggressive cooking style.

Theatre Kitchen

As with all GBK sites, the heart of the restaurant is undoubtedly the open plan theatre-style kitchen. Diners can choose their food from the cinema-style blackboard, then watch it being freshly prepared. And the star of the show? The delicious gourmet burgers. Up-cycled materials such as rustic looking timber beams on the ceiling and mismatched seats give the restaurant a warm and unpretentious vibe. The exposed lighting and high ceilings provide an industrial edge, whereas the geometric wallpaper not only provides a pop of colour but also gives a retro feel.

Star Quality

All emissions produced by GBK’s aggressive cooking process have to be dealt with efficiently due to the restaurant being located within a shopping centre. Every site presents its own challenges which can sometimes prove difficult, but with our years of experience and expertise it’s very much do-able. That’s why we installed an Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) system which targets the smoke and grease particles, eliminating the chance of it affecting any areas out of the kitchen. This system works to leave nothing but a fresh and comfortable kitchen and restaurant environment, whilst ensuring those visiting the shopping centre remain unaffected.
