New year, new me! How many times have you heard that already? But, while some of us are jumping on the Dry January and Veganuary bandwagons, here at Chapman Ventilation we’ll be bringing forward something that’s really important to us from 2019 into 2020.
Every year, we support three charities. This year, we’ve decided to continue to support the same charities we did in 2019. We believe that every charity is special but the three we are continuing to support are close to our hearts.
Globally, sepsis claims 11 million lives a year. That means someone dies of sepsis every 3 seconds. In the UK alone, up to 52,000 people lose their lives due to sepsis-related illness every year. This is more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. Yet, for many patients, sepsis is treatable with early diagnosis. The UK Sepsis Trust aims to fight this life-threatening condition, stop preventable deaths and support those affected by sepsis.
The Motor Neurone Disease Association is a British charity, operating in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, established in 1979 by a group of volunteers to coordinate care, support, and research for people affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which is a form of motor neurone disease.
Isabel Hospice is a registered charity which provides free palliative care and support for patients and their families throughout eastern Hertfordshire who live with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses such as MND, end stage renal conditions, end stage heart conditions, respiratory conditions or other neurological conditions. Care is based on the simple idea that patients are ordinary people living with physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs. The Hospice provides enormous support to families and friends, caring for the patients and all those around them.
So now you have the lowdown of our charities, it’s clear to see how amazing each organisation is.
We regularly hold bake sales, raffles and foodie events to raise as much as we can for these fantastic charities.
Last year we raised over £500 for each charity but we want 2020 to be our best year yet. Wish us luck!
