As we begin a new year, we take a look back at our highlights of 2023.

Projects

Our Project Management Team in our Projects department were kept very busy in 2023 as we completed a fantastic number of projects! Working on sites around the UK and in parts of Europe, we successfully collaborated on projects with our long-standing clients as well as new customers. We continued to work predominantly in the hospitality sector, but also worked on some exciting competitive socialising projects as well as our continued growth in the airports sector.

Maintenance

We are very grateful for our knowledgeable Maintenance team. They provide high quality maintenance support to keep HVAC systems running at their best. Available around the clock all day, every day (except Christmas Day), last year the dedicated team assisted approx. 1,000 sites across the UK. Chapman Ventilation are always happy to help to get restaurants back open when no one else is able to.

Production

A fantastic amount of work was produced in our factory in 2023! We continued to design and manufacture products and export orders to customers in Europe, USA, the Middle East and Australia. A particular highlight was the factory team collaborating with other areas within the business to produce 5 canopies in 1 day for a client! This superb achievement was the result of excellent team work and communication.

Partnerships

Chapman Ventilation continued to enjoy partnerships with several of the top networks in the hospitality sector. During 2023, members of the Senior Management Team attended a variety of conferences and study tours. November was awards season and we were delighted to sponsor and present the Restaurant Business of the Year award to JKS Restaurants at the Peach 20/20 Hero & Icon Awards and the Innovation Award to Turtle Bay at the R200 Awards.

Sustainability

Chapman Ventilation is committed to making a positive impact on the environment and at the beginning of 2023 we began our journey to become a more sustainable business. We installed solar panels on the roof of the building, purchased an electric forklift, moved some of our fleet to electric cars and added insulation into our staff diner and factory. In addition, we began working with the Swedish cleantech company Enjay and installing their product into some sites for clients. The Enjay product “Lepido” was developed specifically for polluted airstreams. It recovers the energy in kitchen fumes during cooking and recycles it to heat the rest of the building. This technology is helping our clients to reduce their carbon emissions as well as providing them with cost savings. Finally, we continued supporting “Tonnes of Care”, the sustainability initiative organised by our local charity Isabel Hospice. Since May 2022, we have donated nearly 1.5 tonnes of unwanted items to this worthy cause. Instead of our unwanted items going to landfill, they’ve been sold in the Isabel Hospice charity shops and the funds raised pay for nursing care.

Supporting Charities

In 2023 our generous members of staff continued to support the charities close to our hearts, Motor Neurone Disease Association, The UK Sepsis Trust, and our local charity, Isabel Hospice. We also continued to support Ukraine, via the Disasters Emergency Committee, too. We raised £1000 for the charities via a wide variety of fund-raising events which included cake sales, raffles, and afternoon teas. Chapman Ventilation also participated in the annual Biggest Coffee Morning event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support in September and raised awareness of World Mental Health Day in October.

Armed Forces

As Gold Award Holders of the Employer Recognition Scheme, we acknowledge the Armed Forces Community for their service to Great Britain and the Commonwealth. We have also signed the Armed Forces Covenant to show our support to those that protect our nation. We showed our appreciation of the Armed Forces Community in 2023 during Armed Forces Week and on Remembrance Day.

Having Fun!

In true Chapman Ventilation style, we had LOTS of fun in 2023! Our Events Team organised a packed social calendar and we enjoyed charity raffles, a Coronation afternoon tea, payday drinks, themed lunches, a bowling night out and a brilliant Christmas party. We also enjoyed a visit from the local ice cream van on one of the only hot days in August!

Looking ahead to 2024

Chapman Ventilation look forward to continuing to work with our long-standing clients and also building relationships with new stakeholders. We have some exciting plans in place for the year ahead to build on becoming a more sustainable business. As ever, we will raise awareness and support the charities important to us and have some fun along the way.
