Manchester Madness

‘tis the season to be jolly! Especially if you find yourself in Manchester visiting the world renowned Christmas Market!

The award-winning Christmas Market has returned to Albert Square and is open until Saturday 22nd December. With more than 300 festive stalls and chalets spread across the city centre, you’ll easily find your loved ones a last minute Christmas gift, or at the very least enjoy some hot seasonal drinks!

For us, one of the best parts of visiting a Christmas Market is the amazing European food being cooked right there on the street. Manchester is famous for the traditional bratwurst, Hungarian goulash, Spanish Paella, or the irresistible hog roast, BUT, if you can resist all of those temptations let us tell you about two very exciting restaurants opening up in the vicinity!

Dine at The Ivy: Spinningfields

Recently opened, The Ivy has brought the magic of their London restaurants up to Manchester in the heart of the city centre. This exciting new four-storey restaurant features a different dining experience on each floor. The Ivy Brasserie on the ground floor, decorated in magnificent gold; a private dining experience on the first floor; The Ivy Asia on the second floor, featuring a glamorous bar and restaurant serving Asian-inspired cocktails and dishes; and finally The Ivy Roof Garden, where guests can dine under starlight next to a roaring fire pit and colourful foliage.

This dining experience is worth booking in advance; the opening night was a sell-out and was highly anticipated throughout the year. In a short amount of time, this restaurant has captured the love of the people of Manchester, and its reviews are glowing.

Be one of the first at Dishoom

Dishoom is already well established in London and Edinburgh, but this winter they have opened up a brand new branch in Manchester city centre. During their soft launch at the end of November they received loads of great comments and reviews, with some guests making several trips in a single week! They officially opened their doors on Thursday 6th December, with the opening weekend a huge success, if you’re looking for the perfect winter warmer, why not stop by and check out their fabulous cuisine? If you’re looking for an evening meal, we’d recommend booking ahead though; Dishoom Manchester has proven to be a huge hit with the locals.

Specialising in modern Indian cuisine, the Manchester venue offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and takeaway food, though the spectacle this December is the winter and Christmas Feasts on offer. Sit down for the Christmas Feast and you will experience the Turkey Raan with all the trimmings, a perfect mix of traditional British cuisine cooked and prepared in the Indian raan style. But for us, the star of the show has to be the House Black Daal (V), their very own signature dish, cooked over 24 hours to create the perfect harmony of spices. This dish is a real crowd pleaser with many guests going home to try and recreate this superb dish at home.
